Concept

For over twenty-five years, the Land Art Symposium Borderline Space has taken place in a chalk quarry in the village of Moghrytsia, Sumy Region, near the border with Russia. Over time, it has become an iconic event within the Ukrainian art context, forming a strong and enduring artistic community.
Borders continuously shift, dissolve, and reconfigure. They exist both externally and internally, as physical demarcations and as metaphysical conditions. We live in an unsettled and turbulent time, where stability is fragile and nothing remains fixed. In this context, borderline space is no longer only the name of a symposium in which we have participated since 2015. It has become a condition we inhabit.
This is a space we carry with us, a territory of belonging that moves together with our bodies and practices. The boundary markers we created from Moghrytsia chalk articulate this state. Wherever we go, wherever we work, wherever the practice unfolds, we bring our borderland with us.
